THE START OF SOMETHING DIFFERENT

Due to demand we have added a second date!

As well as bringing you a host of different photographic events throughout the year we are now looking to introduce a small number of events that are based around learning but with some practical ‘hands on elements’. In September we run our first event of this kind at the Royal Gunpowder Mills with Ray Lowe.  The event was a resounding success and everyone that attended felt they learnt a huge amount from the unique training that Ray brings to the subject of glamour and portraiture photography. 

With so many of our events having people in them, either as the main focus or on the periphery we felt this is an area that should be explored further through these sessions. So, on the 18^th of February 2017 we are taking this to the next level with an event that we feel you won’t want to miss. Even if your chosen field of photography doesn’t usually include people we think this event will captivate and open up new opportunities for all that attend.

A fantastic full day of training, learning and hands on photography, is in store for everyone that attends this event. Starting the day with an in depth session by the master of portraiture Ray Lowe, we are then look forward to an exciting look into how introducing flash can change the perspective of any photo shoot. Nikon’s training manager Neil Freeman takes us through just how to set up and use off camera flash to create a three-dimensional feel to your portrait shooting. 

You can’t have all this knowledge at your fingertips without the opportunity to put it to good use. So during an extended lunchtime period there we will be joined by a number of re-enactors and models for you to practice what you have just learnt. With the site closed to the public we will have extensive grounds to explore and set up cameos to shoot. Our Pros will be on hand to help and explore with you and help guide you while you shoot. Or why not go it alone and set up your own cameos using the fascinating backdrops of the Mill that will be at your disposal. 

During this period the museum café will also be open for you to get something hot to eat and drink as well give you the opportunity to chat to a number of trade people that will also be attending this event. Nikon will be showing a range of their latest equipment and Just will be selling their range of camera cleaning and maintenance products at discounted prices just for the day.

Our day will be fun, packed with knowledge, opportunities and above all like-minded people that want to help and give you some of the best information in the field of photographing people.

In addition Peter Brogden from Just Ltd is going to talk to us about just how important it is to look after your Sensor by managing the issues of dust, an issue we all suffer from! Peter will also be on hand to give help and advice throughout the extended break period.
