DUE TO ONE OF OUR SUPPORTERS NOT BEING ABLE TO MAKE SATURDAY A PLACE HAS BECOME AVAILABLE.
Ever wondered how the BBC and other program makers get street scenes in London during the evening with little or no traffic….? Well generally it’s because the filming is done late into the night and in the early hours of the morning.
This will be our forth foray into the Capital after dark, again we are taking two London Buses with us from the collection at Brooklands, RTL 139 and RT 2775. Both buses saw plenty of service on the streets of our Capital during the 1960's and early 1970's and there is every chance they would or could have been seen together while in active service for London Transport. As with last time we will be visiting various location around the City of London after dark, this time starting in the west of London and then heading to Parliament Square before moving on to places like Tower Bridge, St Pauls the Embankment. This time with a reduced number of participants we are planning to visit some locations like Russell Square and Westminster Bridge, otherwise not possible with a larger group.
These buses are London icons as famous say as Flying Scotsman or Buckingham Palace, RT's were finally withdrawn from service in the mid 1970's but like so many things Britain is famous for they will never be forgotten.
Our evening of photography will start at the London Bus Museum, Brookland’s, Weybridge at around 8.00pm where we will board RTL 139 and travel in style to our first destination in the Capital. From here we will take in as many locations as possible before heading back to Brooklands for an arrival back at around 4.00am (Sunday morning). We will, where possible pose our buses up to allow slower shutter speeds and will use one of our RT's to hold/block traffic from behind to allow more period correct photography. In addition to having these icons back on the streets of the Capital we also plan to have some of our re-enactor friends come along to add to the scenes where possible.
Our night of photography will run for approximately 6 hours and will see us return to Brookland’s at around 4.00am.
PLEASE NOTE PLACES ON THIS EVENT WILL BE RESTRICTED TO 25 TO ALLOW US TO VISIT SOME LOCATIONS THAT ARE TIGHT FOR SPACE.
