About this event
Join us as we take you back in time to 1938 when war was brewing in Europe and MI5 were on high alert for spies leaking information into Nazi Germany. The threat known as the fifth column was the belief that the Germans successful occupation of Europe was to do with help from within the different countries, a network of Nazi sympathisers & spies spread around Europe. M15 were determined that no fifth column in the UK would evade their knowledge as Germany continued their spread through Austria and beyond.Taking inspiration from iconic stories like the 39 steps we will create atmospheric and story telling scenes with our historically accurate and spy stylised re-enactors. We will have 2 male spy like characters and we will also have a female 1930's style spy. The streets of York are rich with history, many maintaining the same look and architecture as they would have done in the 1930's and 1940's. Our shoot starts after dark where we will make full use of torches, streetlights and our portable lighting. We aim to create scenes like those from a film set to bring this city to life with 30's spy stories.
This event will be limited to a small group of photographers to ensure comfortable room. TimeLine staff will be on hand with lighting to set up atmospheric images.
Our meeting point will be by York Minster and our walk will see us capture areas around here, with many streets of historic buildings and cobbled streets.
We will have a minimum of 3 spy characters for the evening.
