About this event

We are pleased to bring you an opportunity in 2025 to photograph the world famous Sail GP that was formerly called the America’s Cup World Series that will be visiting Portsmouth for a weekend of high speed, high end, action packed sailing! On this day the official race takes place so there will be plenty of high speed action and drama on the waves. Being on the water will offer spectacular views of the wonderful AC45 (45 foot flying catamarans) that will be racing just off shore adjacent to Southsea sea front. One major advantage of being ‘seaside’ will be the position of the Sun, at this time of year we will have it behind us giving the best light for photography.

Our day will start with a trip into the Portsmouth harbour area in good time for the dock out show taking place in the Historic Dockyard (timings TBC). This is followed by the race boats parading out to the racecourse, we will then take up our position for the first race with all teams competing in two full races. After the racing has finished at around 16.00 (TBC) we will attempt to make our way back into the harbour to catch the race boats make there way back to there bases.

This promises to be a thrilling and exciting day catching fleet racing with these impressive boats a spectacle not to be missed. Witness the thrill of the most exciting racing on water, as Emirates Great Britain put national pride on the line with a first home event since Season 3.

Places are limited to 11 due to insurance and the boat we will be aboard. Our boat for the day is Anchorman, a large Catamaran that is perfect for photography with its large rear deck. So you are assured of a great safe day in the thick of all the action.

We recommend for great photography you have a lens capable of at least 300-400mm.

We are still awaiting the official race timings from the organisers but expect something similar to 8am-4pm.

As racing out on the water is dependent on weather conditions we will do our upmost to offer a fantastic day but please note we are unable to offer full refunds if the weather changes after we have departed on the boat or if the organisers make any last minute changes.
