About this event

This promises to be an excellent day of photography learning amongst this exciting and fast paced sport! Capturing moving subjects can be tricky, especially if they are moving fast and you don't have much time to get the shot. On this course we aim to get you confident with shooting moving subjects on location by exploring the settings and techniques that will give you sharp and creative images in any situation where there is movement. With access around the track you will be able to photograph from a variety of different positions to capture the cars racing during the days practicals and put into practise everything you have learned. Your tutor will be on hand throughout the course to assist you and he will be delivering in depth classroom training before you head out to test your knowledge out! This course is for anyone wanting to improve their photography or try something new!

The London rally school hosts a variety of different events and our training day will be on a public rally experience day where novice drivers try out rally driving. Cars on the tracks will be at least one of the following: Ford Escort MK2 RS2000 or Peugeot 206 Super Cup or a Subaru Impreza WRX (this may vary depending on what is available on the day).  To see some images and videos from the tracks please visit the London Rally Schools website here

On this course we will cover:

  • Advanced focusing and techniques
  • Shutter Speed
  • Panning
  • Exposure
  • Composition
  • Shooting for Edit
  • Settings
  • Image Review

Your Tutor for the day is David Robbins:

With a love of photography that spans 30 years David developed his passion into a career. Beginning in photo retail before starting his own photography business he has always enjoyed the more technical challenges of photography.

His love of sharing knowledge led to him teaching photography first to teenagers before moving to Practical Photography magazine and then to Nikon UK.

His technical approach suited working closely with working with many professionals and organisations who depend on photography. From press and sports photographers to scenes of crime officers and the Ministry of Defence. David has specialised in teaching photographic technics and showing non-professional photographers how to get the best from their camera.

Our day will begin at 10:00 and finish at 16:00.  Lunch is not included as there is no cafe on site, but unlimited tea and coffee is provided for you.  Please bring a packed lunch with you.
