The Royal Norfolk Regiment Living History Group

We are honoured to be returning to Lee-on-the Solent 5 years after our last visit, this time to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day. As you will know D-Day was a major turning point in WWII and helped bring an end to the war. This event will be run in conjunction with Airfield owners Fareham Borough Council and by kind permission of the aircraft owners that will be participating in the weekends festivities. While the daytime will be a public affair we will be taking over the Airfield for a private photo event that will be raising money for the supported charities of the overall weekend.

Our photography session will start around 18.00 and run until around 23.00 and is an advance ticket only event.

We have so far been promised a variety of airframes, these include the list below with more to be added as we get nearer the evening:

Westland Scout  AH1

                     Bell 47 Sioux

                     Auster AOP9

Tecnam P2002 G-UCAN – daylight or nearest to daylight for brand exposure

                     Auster AOP6 TW536

                     C-182 Seaplane

Possible:

In addition to the aircraft we will have a small cast of re-enactors, engine runs and a few of our special effects.

Royal Naval Air Station Lee-on-Solent (HMS Daedalus) was one of the primary shore airfields of the Fleet Air Arm. First established as a seaplane base in 1917 during the First World War, it later became the main training establishment and administrative centre of the Fleet Air Arm. Situated near Lee-on-the-Solent in Hampshire, approximately four miles west of Portsmouth on the coast of the Solent. Used by both the Fleet Air Arm and the RAF this Airfield has seen much activity over the years, not to mention playing its role in the preparations for D-Day, so what better place to be than Lee-on-the-Solent with your cameras on the 8th of June.
