About this event

Professional wildlife photographer and trainer Clive Greenland will be leading this day, and will be on hand to guide you and teach you the best settings and techniques to achieve sharp and stunning wildlife images! Clive is a qualified professional photographer with The Guild of Photographers, Licentiate membership with the Royal Photographic Society and Licentiate membership with The Society of International Nature & Wildlife Photographers. His photography has been displayed worldwide throughout social media and has been exhibited in events in the UK as well as being published in books, magazines and national newspapers.

This day promises to offer endless photography opportunities, covering 2 fantastic locations: valley View Falconry and Gigrin Farm red kite feeding station. Photography can be very rewarding and difficult all at the same time and this event will really push the boundaries of both of those statements with birds in flight.

Our day will begin at 10am at the Valley View falconry centre which hosts a wide variety of birds including a Great Grey Owl, Snowy Owl, Harris hawk and much more! We will spend the morning here capturing a variety of statics and if weather permits there will be flying against lovely natural backdrops. At 1pm we will then depart and drive for 10 minuets to Gigrin Farm where an all inclusive lunch will be waiting for us. Clive will be checking how you all found the mornings photography, and will be giving further tips and tricks for the afternoons session which will be capturing the red kites as hundreds of them soar into Gigrin farm for their 3pm feeding. The day will then finish up at about 16:30 after a discussion about the day, problems that were encountered and a review of techniques and tips.

This is a unique event limited to just 12 places, located in a rural location. Our photography at the falconry centre will include portrait opportunities and will include flying demonstrations. We will have our own dedicated falconer on hand to engage and explain each bird to us and indeed put the birds through their paces on our behalf. Please just note that birds shown on the day will depend on their mood and also the weather. At Gigrin farm you will be photographing hundreds of red kites as they come in for their afternoon feeding which commenced as 3pm. You will be situated inside a photography hide, we have hired 2 of these so you can spread out between them. The Red Kite Centre is located in the most beautiful countryside, in the heart of Mid Wales, overlooking both the Wye and Elan Valleys, and it is a wonderful sight to witness.
