About this event

It gives us great pleasure to announce an earlier than expected return to the former RAF Wattisham for another afternoon, Sunset and Night photography session, however this time to keep you coming back we have enlisted a new asset and will be heading to a different part of the airfield for our photography. Oh yes indeed this time we will not only be photographing Phantom XT914 on the approach taxiway to the former QRA ramp, this positioning will allow for a sunset behind the jet and a clear view of the runway which we have also arranged to have lights on as the evening progresses into darkness. But just when you thought that was the new highlight we have also with kind permission of the Army Air Corp 662 Sqn enlisted the use of a current Apache. Sadly on this occasion she will not be live (hopefully next time) but what we will have is the opportunity to get right up close and personal to her, something we know many wanted to do on our last Apache event in Hampshire. Then to top your evening off we will also be joined by Hunter XG194 in her unique all over black livery. Both our Apache and Hunter will also be positioned for the light and backdrops.

Along with a change of location and the additional asset this event is in aid of SSAFA at Wattisham. We hope to raise them a significant amount of money like we have in the past for the museum. It must also be acknowledged that it is with a massive thank you that the Wattisham Museum are lending us their two airframes for this event. That loan will require a huge logistical exercise to move both aircraft right over to the opposite side of the museum and in recognition of this we will do a small collection on the night to award them for their efforts being as this event is primarily to support Wattisham SSAFA.

And if all this wasn't enough, yeah of course we will be bringing some special effects and a few of our hard working re-enactors to the party, so with some different lighting techniques, a little atmospheric smoke we think will have a pretty special Saturday afternoon for all.

With this event being on MOD land we are strictly governed by the Wattisham Station Command and therefore have to limit participants to 50, because of this we expect tickets to sell fast. However before you book your place be aware that you will be required to have a Photo ID with you to gain access on to base on the day.

Our event will run from 15.00 through to 20.00 hours (nominally) allowing plenty of time for photography and hopefully many different opportunities from daylight into nightfall. We will ensure the airframe are spaced to allow them to be photographed separately.

There is no catering on site but some volunteers are planning to have tea, coffees and cakes available for attendees to purchase for a small extra fee.

So come with us on a fully packed evening of Aircraft photography just off the A14 in Suffolk.
