About this eventThis autumn we are pleased to be running a 1940s- re-enactment and Steam-Punk crossed with Victorian themed event at a brand new and fantastic location: Abbey Pumping house. With excellent access to the site we will be setting up eye catching and unique scenes with our host of historic and quirky models. We will also be able to take advantage of the evening autumnal light running through sunset with 1 hour after dark for atmospheric images!
The Abbey Pumping Station opened in 1891 to pump Leicester's sewage to new treatment works in Beaumont Leys. The ornate building and beautifully-decorated beam engines demonstrated the great civic pride in this public health achievement. It closed in 1964 and opened as a museum of science and industry ten years later. The Pump House is an excellent example of beautiful Victorian engineering, full of detail and wonderful historic backdrops which will spoil you for choice! As well as photographing inside the building we have hired a vintage fire engine and delivery truck which will be positioned in the grounds to add as wonderful props for our models to pose with!
The timings for this event are 14:30 - 19:30 giving us daylight, sunset, dusk and a little bit of after dark!
We hope you will want to join us for what promises to be a great evening in a wonderful location.
