About this event
Join us at Bicester Heritage Centre (just north M40) for an exclusive shoot with 2 resident Tiger Moths plus vintage vehicles, courtesy of Finest Hour Experiences. Our event will run from mid afternoon, through sunset into early evening, thus allowing us to take advantage of the best Spring evening light.
Tiger Moths first flew in 1931, with G-OOSY being built in 1943 at
Morris Motors of Cowley. Following
periods of storage at RAF Wroughton and RAF Llandow, she was flown to
Romorantin in April 1946 to join the French Air Force. She is currently
in green and dark earth camo, representing the early second world war
period. The de Havilland DH.82 Tiger Moth is a 1930s British biplane designed
by Geoffrey de Havilland and built by the de Havilland Aircraft Company.
It was operated by the Royal Air Force (RAF) and other operators as a
primary trainer aircraft. Painted in the 'Brooklands' colour scheme she
is perfectly fitted to the authentic Art Deco theme.
Our event will see us positioning the aircraft away from all buildings and modern day clutter, thus allowing clean backdrops for the daytime and sunset session and we will do a ground engine run. After this the aircraft will taxi for photography over to an area in front of one of the period hangers where they will re-position for more engine runs and the night part of the shoot.
During this session we will be joined by period re-enactors which include a pilot and ground crew, all who will be convincingly dressed for the period to add a human interest at times and we will also have vintage vehicles from the era to add extra interest.
This event is limited to just 35 photographers. There is no food on site so please bring your own provisions, there is on site toilets and on site parking.
