About this event

Join in the summer for a unique photography experience designed to have you creating stunning portraiture in a beautiful and varied garden. We will have lovely themed models who will be modelling a variety of period and themed outfits and doing classic poses amongst nature and the garden flowers. This promises to be a great day of photography. We will explore themes of love, beauty, the Pre-Raphaelites and folklore to create beautiful and poetic imagery that blends person and nature together in a celebration of life and summer. We aim to push the boundaries of your creativity, guiding you how to pose our models and use light and nature to create the perfect picture.

The Pre-Raphaelites were a group of English painters, poets, and art critics, founded in 1848 by artists that included William Holman Hunt, John Everett Millais and Dante Gabriel Rossetti. They sought to return to an abundance of detail, paintings that were full of colour and nature, many inspired by mythology and romance. The result is a beautiful collection of art, many that are dreamy and mysterious and that have beautiful depictions of female and male beauty.

Borde Hill Garden was created in the early 1900s with plants gathered by the great plant collectors from their travels to the Himalayas, China, Burma, Tasmania and the Andes – a legacy which today’s visitors continue to experience and enjoy. Listed as Grade II* importance by English Heritage on its register of Parks and Gardens, Borde Hill contains the best private collection of champion trees in Britain and one of the most comprehensive collections of trees and shrubs in the world. In 1999 the Garden won the South East Tourism Board’s prestigious ‘Attraction of the Year’ award, and in 2004 it won the HHA/Christies Garden of the Year. The gardens will provide so many beautiful scenes and backdrops that we will be spoilt for choice. The gardens will be open to the public, but as this is a weekday outside of school holidays we will have ample space to work around any public visitors. To find out more about the location watch a video of the garden on their website here
