About this event

We are pleased to be joining in with the Centre of Aviation Photography & the team at RAF Air Defence Radar Museum Neatishead for a rare insight and photo shoot of historical significance.

We will be travelling back in time to recreate typical Cold War scenarios to capture images of the 24/7, 365-day Alert at this important & unique national museum dedicated to the UK's History of Radar.

The RAF Air Defence Radar Museum Cold War Room offers a fantastic opportunity to capture RAF life at a period when we were only 120 seconds away from Nuclear War! The R30 Operations room at RAF Neatishead is a unique, fully intact electronic time capsule from the ‘frontline’ of the Cold War of international importance.

Chilling scenarios choreographed in historical context from first-hand knowledge will be offered by a team of re-enactors and museum staff (many of whom served in this exact room!). They will populate the perfectly preserved Cold War Room and offer the first-ever opportunity to capture such 'high alert' time travel photography in this secretive facility.

For full history and concise background information regarding the Cold War Room check out www.radarmuseum.co.uk

The event is organised during the museum's winter closure period allowing exclusive access with an introduction by museum staff before leaping into High Alert & Action in the Cold War Room.

PLUS...Want a Cold War Weekend Away?

With Neatishead only a 25 minute drive from the RAF West Raynham event on Saturday 22nd March, this offers a perfect opportunity to attend both Cold War-themed events over one weekend in the beautiful county of Norfolk, immersed in pure aviation history. It takes considerable planning for events like these to happen, some are only possible once every few years, don’t take a chance, don’t miss the opportunity to widen your ‘Portfolio’ of imagery, we look forward to you joining us for these unique events!
