About this event

A great day of photography with the historic & mighty Vulcan with special access into the Vulcan XL426 maintenance hangar to recreate scenes with a group of re-enactors who will represent RAF service personnel as if they were working on the aircraft during its service life.

Subject to the XL426 maintenance programme schedule, we aim to recapture as many genuine engineering scenes as possible in the Hangar. Working under the wings, on the wing, on the undercarriage, in the bomb bay, with brake disc assemblies, etc... You get the idea, just like you were there forty... Yes, forty years ago!

Additionally, we should be able to document the paperwork service trail and tool room aspects of RAF maintenance operations as realistically as possible.

Photographer numbers will be limited, and several people have already expressed a potential interest in attending, so don’t delay your booking.

Due to the nature of the work being undertaken and the space within the safe areas in which we can operate, a maximum group of 20 will be allowed to attend the event. We will work in small supervised groups working as ‘teams'.

These opportunities do not present themselves very often at all, so don’t miss this 'one-off’ chance to visit the Vulcan team at Southend during winter maintenance.

Our group's visit will include fascinating insight from the Vulcan Restoration Trust Team into the work involved in keeping a Vulcan ‘Live’ and the opportunity to acquire some Vulcan Merchandise for the Man or Lady Cave!

The short notice announcement of this event is due to the fact that the Vulcan Aircraft Jacks will depart Southend in early March for use by The Imperial War Museum at Duxford to facilitate their Vulcan's imminent relocation within the Airspace museum hangar.

Take advantage of this opportunity to expand your Vulcan portfolio. This has never been done before, and the opportunity may not present itself again.
