About this event
We try to provide variety
in the range of heritage vehicles that we use for our shoots and WKJ 787 is
certainly different. Built in 1955, this C41C centre-door single-decker was initially
used as a demonstrator and was acquired and operated by Moss Motor Tours based
at Sandown on the Isle of Wight from 1956 until the early 1970s. After being
purchased by a travelling church group, the vehicle was restored by Bensons
Coaches in the late 1990s and re-engined in 2004; this impressive blue and
chrome-liveried coach is now privately preserved.
The vehicle was designed by the Rootes Group who took over the well-known Maidstone-based firm of Tilling-Stevens in 1950. The coach had a three-cylinder TS3 Commer engine (the TS standing for Tilling-Stevens) that was also used in commercial trucks of the time and had a very distinctive sound. It is believed to be one of only two survivors of its type.
We will aim for a mixture of village and countryside
locations, and will arrange a stop for lunch to give photographers and our
driver a break. We will be joined by a number of appropriately-dressed
re-enactors as period passengers and will arrange for some vintage vehicles to
add variety to our cameo scenes.
Expected meeting and finishing point is The Valley, Evesham Country Park, WR11 4TP. Free parking is available and there is a small but interesting shopping complex for wives and partners who are accompanying you but do not want to join the bus trip! Please arrive from 09.15 for an 09.45 start. There is also a bus connection from Evesham for those using public transport (please ask us for details). We expect to return to base by 18.00 hours.
We are aiming for a relaxed and enjoyable day out
with some great photographic opportunities thrown in for good measure. We look
forward to a number of you joining us for this Summer event in the Midlands.
Event cost £45.00 per person.
