About this event

Following of from our successful ‘Photographing People’ Events earlier this year we are delighted to be able to bring you the next installment of this well received training programme.  Working with the Master Photographers Associations’ very own Chairman Ray Lowe we are planning to take you to the next level in portraiture and people photography.

On the 13th of January 2018 we will be returning to the iconic and very historic Royal Gunpowder Mills, Hertfordshire for a full day of intermediate training with Ray.  Those of you that have joined us back in January and February 2017, or on a previous event with Ray will know just how unique his approach is and how great he is at getting his knowledge over. With countless awards and accolades to his name Ray is quite possibly one of the best in his field, couple that with his laid back, fun approach and you can not fail to enjoy yourself while learning so much from this master of photography.

With so many of our events having people in them, either as the main focus or on the periphery we felt this is an area that should be explored further through these sessions. So, on the 13th of January 2018 we are taking you to the next level with an event that we feel you simply will not want to miss. Even if your chosen field of photography doesn’t usually include people we think this event will captivate and open up new opportunities for all that attend.

A fantastic full day of training, learning and hands on photography, is in store for everyone that attends this event. Our day will start in the theatre with Ray taking us back to basics recapping briefly on what we leant last time before getting deeper into the art of portraiture and just what it takes to get those ‘to die for, wow images’. Covering areas like, camera settings to get the best out of your kit when shooting with flash, studio lighting, on location lighting, using reflectors, and natural light sources. We will delve into the art of posing your model(s), using props, backdrops, looking for locations, what to have with you in the kit bag to ensure a successful shoot and just how all this is so important when shooting models and people.

Time flies when you’re having fun so we will be having an extended working lunch, during this time we will have models and re-enactors for you to practice what you’ve learnt. Lunch will be a buffet style (for a small extra fee) and will allow time for discussion and networking with piers and well as some photography. Ray will also be on hand throughout this period to show and offer some continued training.

After lunch we will be on location watching and learning further with Ray as he shows us how working outdoors can be as rewarding as in the studio. Using portable lighting and reflectors at a couple of different locations on the site we will be creating urban/street styles, which you will also have the chance to capture. Then we will return to the theatre to recap and have an in depth Q&A with Ray.

In addition Peter Brogden from Just Ltd is returning once again to talk further to us about just how important it is to look after your Sensor by managing the issues of dust, an issue we all suffer from! Peter will also be on hand to give help and advice throughout the extended lunch period. Peter will be bring his portable shop so why not checkout his website ahead of attending and let him know if there is something you would like to purchase or discuss. www.cameraclean.co.uk

Not content with all this we are also giving every attendee a £15.00 Gift Voucher that can be used against any future TimeLine Event booked via our website after attending the 13th of January.
