Re-enactors, tractors, period vehicles, an agricultural steam engine and the occasional chicken combine to give us an afternoon/evening of vintage photography against an unspoilt farm backdrop in Quorn village.

We are delighted to be able to offer a second day of 1940s photography in Leicestershire. To contrast with our day spent at Quorn & Woodhouse station recreating a station at war, we turn our attentions to agriculture during the Second World War using the unspoiled backdrop of Mill Farm in the village of Quorn, just a short distance from the Great Central Railway.
Mill Farm is approximately a quarter of a mile from the Great Central Railway's Quorn & Woodhouse Station, located in the village of Quorn itself. Those who have joined us on our two previous shoots at this venue will know that the farm presents a timeless backdrop and tranquil environment in which to stage period scenes reminiscent of country life in the 1940s and before. We are very grateful to the landowner for allowing us access to his land and farm once again where we can set up scenes in a controlled and relaxed environment.
In addition to our splendid re-enactors, costumed to represent the 1940s era, we expect to have vintage vehicles on site including a vintage tractor from the appropriate period, and 'borrow' an agricultural steam engine (a ploughing engine is currently being lined up) from nearby to create some fine photographic cameo scenes. The event is arranged to coincide with the first day of the GCR's Wartime Weekend, so expect some period 'visitors' to be dropping by during the course of the evening to join in the fun. The (feathered) birds that live at the farm are usually content to join in playing cameo roles, which provides another element to our scenes. We will try and arrange local parking and refreshments and details of these will be given nearer to the time of the event.
The day promises an excellent few hours of photography in the Leicestershire countryside, and we hope you will want to join us for the third of our photo shoots at this location. Numbers will be limited to 25 participants in order to ensure comfortable conditions for photography, so please book early to avoid disappointment!
