A day photographing four steam engines out on the road around Market Harborough in Leicestershire, Saturday 19th August 2017

About this event

We are pleased to be able to offer you a relaxed day out in Leicestershire on the road with several vintage steam engines and rollers plus water carts and living van, appropriately dressed crews and hopefully one or two re-enactors to add some 'local colour'.

We will be using engines based at a private site in Market Harborough. During the course of the day, we will be following the engines as they make their way to the picturesque nearby village of Great Bowden. There are several locations that lend themselves as ideal backdrops to scenes and we are looking forward to a most interesting day. We will be able to arrive early and photograph the engines being prepared for the day in the yard from approximately 08.30 onwards though we will not be out on the road until around 10.00. Free parking is available on site plus toilets, and there are plenty of local hostelries on our route for a lunchtime break. We hope to cover the costs of the owners’ coal and food for this event and are very pleased that they have agreed to a special steaming for us this Summer.

Although still awaiting confirmation of additional attractions, one or two vintage tractors are likely to make cameo appearances (up to six are based at the yard at various times, but don't expect all six!) and hopefully a Bedford tipper lorry.
