A night of training and learning as we use a vintage RT bus to transport you to a London where science fiction meets the steam age as Steam Punk hits the streets and famous London landmarks.

About this event
In a brand new departure
of training and learning we are please to bring you new opportunities where we
take small groups of photographers on different events with the dual purpose of
learning and photography.
This event is open to 12 photographers only.
This event will see us take Steam Punk Models onto the streets of London for an evening of learning and photography taking in some of the City's famous landmark locations and buildings. Following the success of previous TimeLine Events in London focusing on the Swinging Sixties, this is an event with a difference which is bound to present us with some unusual and slightly surreal images in a totally different style to those we have previously captured on the streets of the Capital.
Many photographers are not confident with night photography so join us for an evening of learning how to overcome the difficulties of photography after dark and in situations where it can be seen as challenging. Learn camera settings, techniques, what equipment is best suited to nigh street photography, share your experiences and work with other likeminded photographers to overcome and get the best from the opportunities that are presented
Aimed at a small group of just 12 photographers,
we will meet at Victoria Embankment in time for an 18.30 start. We will travel
by RT London bus, though the main emphasis for this shoot will be on the models
rather than the vehicle. We hope to take in a number of well-known locations
including the Bank of England, Tate Britain Museum at Millbank, Parliament
Square, Westminster, the Albert Bridge over the Thames and possibly, time
permitting, some Christmas lights.
Steam Punk presents an excellent subject for photography, combining as it does some stunning and occasionally outlandish costume with the inventiveness of the steam age and the bold imagination of science fiction. Add to this the splendid backdrop and architecture of the City of London and you have the makings of what promises to be a very productive evening photographically.
We will explore, discuss and put into practice
the following, during the event:
- Creative approaches and compositional ideas
- Focussing in low light situations
- Getting the best out of your lens and using depth of field
- Balancing your shutter speed, aperture and ISO for low light photography
- Shooting hand held and with a tripod in low lights situations
- Tips on metering and low key photography
- Using a live model and directing your subject
- Thinking about colour, file formats and post processing
Things you will need:
- Your camera
- Spare battery
- Your favourite lens/lenses
- spare memory cards
- A tripod
- Something to make notes with
- A torch and appropriate clothing
This event is ideal for the longer hours of darkness that we will have at this time of year, whilst being far enough away from Christmas not to interfere with seasonal shopping and family commitments. We hope you will wish to join us for this event.
