About this event

A handsome steam locomotive gently simmering at the head of its train; the clank of a shovel and the red glow from an open firebox door; a porter resting on his trolley between duties; another member of station staff silhouetted in escaping steam as he exchanges greetings with a footplateman awaiting the ‘green light’ for go from the guard further down the train; station lamps throwing pockets of light and shadow. These are the images we aim to create as we evoke the atmosphere and ambiance of the steam era railway station after dark.

And what better setting could we have than the Severn Valley Railway’s beautifully restored Bewdley Station. Following on from our daytime shoot, we are pleased to be able to offer a further after dark event within the environs of the station using visiting B12/3 No.8572 and rake of Gresley coaches plus a number of re-enactors to act as passengers to recreate scenes reminiscent of the 1940s. The locomotive currently carries London & North Eastern Railway apple green livery so is perfectly matched with the teak stock. Although one does not immediately associate the class with the Great Western, B12s worked ambulance trains onto the GWR system during the Second World War, so their appearance away from Eastern territory was not entirely unheard of during the 1940s.

Our event will start at 19.00 hours and make use of subtle lighting, just a little additional steam and a number of appropriately dressed re-enactors to bring the scenes to life. Added to further by our smoke machines, lighting equipment and special effects that bring these events to life and deliver scenes reminiscent of the film ‘Brief Encounter’. So, why not join us for an evening of atmospheric photography at the Severn Valley Railway.

Daytime event cost £50.00 per person.
