About this event

After our recent event with STL441 was somewhat scuppered by weather and road closures we have managed to get her an insurance extension so that we may return to the streets of London with her in a hope that we may capture this icon at locations we were unable to get to in February. So we are pleased to be back pounding the streets of the Capital with her and this time RTL453, a perfect partner from the Ensign Bus Company collection. Both beautiful examples of 1940's London buses. Our evening will see us take these wonderful icons of London to a number of perfect locations around the City and West End of London where we will pose them and a handful of re-enactors for photography.

We will be meeting in London (Great Peter Street) for this event and we will travel in style aboard RTL453 to our chosen locations. Our first location is likely to be Smith Square just off Milbank before heading to Horseguards Avenue, the Bank of England, Tower Bridge, Masons Hall and Theatre Land.

Both of our buses saw plenty of service on the streets of the Capital with STL441 entering service in 1934 having originally been ordered by the London General Omnibus Company, but not delivered until after the formation of London Transport. She was finally withdrawn from service in 1952 at Streatham Garage. RTL453 the newer of the two entered service with London Transport just after the war, with three major overhauls under her belt she was finally withdrawn in 1967.

These buses are London icons as famous say as Flying Scotsman or Buckingham Palace, RT's were finally withdrawn from service in the mid 1970's but like so many things Britain is famous for they will never be forgotten. Add to this, our icons of vintage transport will be joined by a handful of wonderful re-enactors that will play the part of passengers on and off the bus. These hardworking volunteers bring so much to this kind of event and make our scenes stand out and a faithful recreation of Britain’s past.

Our night of photography will start at 20.30 and run for approximately 6 hours.

Anyone wishing to join us can be assured that meeting in London is not as big an issue as you might think. Parking in Great Peter Street is free on a Sunday and there is plenty of parking in this area. It is a little known fact that at weekends and after 18.30 in Westminster you can park on single yellow lines and meters for free (excluding resident parking bays). Also remember that the London Congestion Charge is only in force on week days.

Please note this event is restricted to 15 photographers to aid photography at some of the tighter locations, this is also why the rice per person is slightly higher than previously. So to avoid disappointment please book your place early.

Event cost £95.00 per person.
