About this event

Join us as we take you back to the 1940's, to Waverley house and Abbey for what promises to be a highly varied and inspiring day of photography.  With 4 period models and 2 fantastic locations we aim to have you coming home with plenty of eye catching images! The historical settings will aim to push the boundaries of your photography, giving you the opportunity to photograph both in an indoor and outdoor setting.

Our day will begin at Waverley House, built in 1725, the house is steeped in history and has had several owners including Florence Nightingale's uncle. It was also used as a military hospital during the first world war and over 5000 soldiers received care here. During the morning session we have exclusive use of our own room and also have use of the main staircase for photography which will provide us with some lovely period interiors.

In the afternoon we will be spending our time amongst the picturesque ruins of Waverley Abbey, which is located along the river from the house itself. Waverley Abbey was the first Cistercian abbey in England. It was founded in 1128 by William Giffard, Bishop of Winchester. Nestled next to the River Wey, its impressive remains include the fine 13th century vaulted refectory or dining hall for the lay brothers, the Cistercians' labour force. We have permission from British Heritage to use the site which will provide us with plenty of variety to capture our models amongst the crumbling walls and arches of history!

This event is open to 20 photographers only.
