About this event
With grateful thanks to the Great Western Society we are pleased to announce one final event over the weekend of the 12th & 13th of September with King Edward II, 6023. This really is the last chance to catch the ‘Blue King’ at full height ahead of her Boiler Certificate expiring on the 15th of September.
Our morning will begin at 06:30 with 6023 being prepared for a days work under the Coal Stage hopefully bathed
in early morning sunshine, and run until 09:00. King Edward II will be in British Railways early blue livery and we will have use of a Cornish Riviera headboard and Reporting
Numbers during the event to add further an air of period realism to a number of
scenes. And of course a supporting cast of period re-enactors bringing the
scenes to life with that all-important human interest as they prepare for a full day of steaming.
This really is a great opportunity to capture the sights and sounds of a former Western Region Shed that has changed little since it last saw steam under the ownership of British Railways in the mid 1960’s. It is equally the last chance to capture scenes with such an iconic Loco in steam ahead of her Boiler Certificate sadly expiring just a few days later. We have no clue what the future holds for this icon, however we are sure she will return to steam in the future but there is certainly no date for this and no guarantees of what livery she will return in.
The day before we are running our evening shoot with King Edward II so if you would like to book for both events for the reduced rate of £100 click HERE
