About this event

Due to the success of the photo-walks we ran in the winter of 2019, we are running one with a 1940's theme! Set in the historic back streets around the London Bridge area we will take you on a guided walk that will transport you back in time. We are delighted to have with us a wonderful and iconic black marketeer: Viv the Spiv, as well as an ARP warden and 2 smart civilians. We will be setting up eye catching scenes to recreate those atmospheric evenings under the streetlights of London. These alleys are the perfect place for shady dealings, the walking ground of the Spiv who never misses a tick when it comes to underhand business. During this period ARP wardens were a common sight, so no flashes allowed or you will be met will the bellows of 'put that light out!'

This promises to be a great and fun evening of photography with the possibility of being persuaded into buying black market goods from our Spiv who will remain in jovial character for most of the evening! Viv has performed for various shows and occasions including appearing on stage at the London Palladium performing for the Queen as part of Dame Vera Lynn’s 100th birthday celebrations. He has also featured in films including The Imitation Game.

We will meet near London bridge station (exact location will be confirmed), at 18:30 for a brief and welcome, and then we will commence the tour, finishing up at around 21:30 in the London bridge area.

This event will be limited to a small group of photographers and we will have 4 re-enactors (pictured above) available for you to photograph.

This event will run outside and with a small group and social distancing. Currently all of our events will run in line with our Covid-19 policy that follows government guidelines. You can find our Covid-19 policy information page here.
