About this event

We are delighted to be making a return visit to Amberley Museum and Heritage Centre. Those who have attended previous events at the Museum will be aware of the great photographic opportunities that the site presents, with a wealth of heritage settings and a host of vintage vehicles plus keen and enthusiastic staff and volunteers that love to re-enact. The Museum will be closed to the public, giving us full use of the site throughout the day, and this will be the first Autumn charter we have run at Amberley.

Our day in September will be divided between the Museum's fantastic bus collection and the steam railway, with countless scenarios being recreated during the course of the event. The morning session will run from 09.30 until approximately 13.30 using many of the superb buses in the Museum's collection. As the previous weekend will be the 100th anniversary event for Southdown buses, we are hoping that some of the visiting vehicles will stay on to take part in the event, but at this stage it is not confirmed which vehicles will be available. The home-based vehicles in action should be...

MO 9324 Thames Valley Tilling Stevens B9A single decker of 1927

ECD524 Leyland Cub single-decker of 1937

UF1517 Short/Dennis single-decker of 1927

UF6473 Leyland Titan TD1 double-decker of 1930

UF7428 Leyland Titan TD1 double-decker of 1931

EUF184 recovery vehicle Leyland conversion from a TD1. This was a 1930 TD1 DD bus for ten years, converted in 1940 to a breakdown tender with its original TD1 6.8 litre petrol chassis.

We also expect to have appropriately-dressed crews and passengers to add to the period scenes we are recreating. We hope to set up a number of cameos including a breakdown recovery, changing a wheel and an inspector working in the left luggage or Inspector's hut.

After a short lunch break, our focus will switch from road to rail. On the Railway, both Peter and Polar Bear will be in steam. Polar Bear was built by Bagnall of Stafford in 1905 for the Groudle Glen Railway and will run with its vintage Isle of Man train. Peter was also built by Bagnall in 1917 and will be available to work on a number of wagon formations or workman's coaches as required. One or two of the diesel locos will also be available for us to use (subject to demand!). Again, we expect to have crews in the correct costume as at previous events and those who have been before will appreciate the enthusiasm of the rail group for these events.

We hope to have other vintage road vehicles available, subject to confirmation nearer to the date of the charter. The Museum has ample parking and the main line railway station is just a couple of hundred yards from the entrance. It is hoped this event will appeal to many of our regular supporters and those new to TimeLine Events. It will also follow on from the TLE Photo Expo that is being held on Sunday the 27th of September, close to Andover in Hampshire which is approximately an hour and half from Amberley. Full details of TLE Photo Expo and online booking will be launched on the 13th of July.

Event cost £55.00 per person.
