About this event
The Paddle Steamer Waverley makes a return to
London this Autumn during October and we are pleased offer a trip photographing
her as she makes her way from Gravesend towards Tower Bridge and the Pool of
London.
Leaving Gravesend late morning we pick up with the
PS Waverley as she makes her way up the Thames Estuary from Southend, passing
under one of the Thames' most recent landmarks, the QE2 Bridge. From here we
continue on up the Thames passing more of London's top riverside landmarks like
the Barrier, the Millennium Dome, Greenwich and of course the Capital's
financial centre at Canary Wharf, all this before heading for the iconic Tower
Bridge. It's here where we will have the opportunity to capture these two
wonderful feats of Victorian Engineering come together with the PS Waverley
passing under the bridge not once but twice. With the Sun setting we will
retrace our steps to Gravesend allowing us to capture further images of this wonderful paddle steamer from
different angles with London's finest landmarks as a fitting backdrop.
Of course in addition to capturing one of the finest paddle steamers you will also have the opportunity to photograph some of the best cityscape backdrops in the world as we make our way to and from Tower Bridge.
For this trip we will be aboard a 35ft 8PAX Fast
Launch capable or 30 knots, so keeping up and in deed passing the Waverley is
going to be no problem for our experienced skipper Richard. Anyone who has
been on a previous trip will tell you that this boat is perfect for a day on
the Thames chasing any craft. She is roomy and has an inside area, useful for
storing our equipment and of course us if the weather turns.
Start point for this trip will be a Pier at
Gravesend and will see us out for around 5 hours.
