About this event
Join us for an evening of photography at the Great Central Railway featuring Std 2 78018 plus road transport and re-enactors. Our event will begin around 11.30 and will continue until after dark with a mixture of natural light scenes and, later on, cameos lit by LED lighting. At this time of the year it should be light until circa 18.15 hours. As evening turns to dusk, we will enhance scenes using our LED lighting which will give us more opportunities after dark up until our estimated finishing time of 19.30 hours. We will have use of No.78018 until 16.30 and we will be able to shunt wagons around the yard, pose the loco with a a number of other road vehicles and set up many other scenes before the engine returns to shed at Loughborough. Expect lots of cameo scenes using many of the trappings one would have seen in railway goods yards up until the early 1960s with uniformed working staff loading and unloading wagons, shunting and generally making themselves busy around the yard.
The charter will be helping to raise funds for the Quorn Wagon & Wagon Group and will assist the restoration and maintenance of wagons which are used on our charters. The event is limited to a maximum of thirty photographers. It is a different kind of event to those we have previously held at the GCR and will present many opportunities to capture scenes reminiscent of the British steam era.
