About this event
We are delighted to be able to offer a full day of photography at the Great Central Railway featuring southbound, northbound and passing workings with No.6990 Witherslack Hall in British Railways lined green livery (facing south) on a rake of around 18 Bauxite Box Vans, and Ivatt '2MT' Class 2-6-0 No.46521 (facing north) on 2 Suburban Coaches.
A full day of photography using two beautifully turned out locos in BR Western Region liveries on prototypical consists for an authentic 1950's, early 1960's scenes that were once an everyday sight in the south of England. Deep winter can be one of the best times of year to photograph Steam so we will make the best use of the low winter light by being out on the line all day, visiting many of the regular locations with our day starting at 07.30 in the Swithland area where we will be able to capture both trains working separately and together passing period correct Western Region infrastructure on the four track section as well and the double track sections leading to the Swithland area. We will run until Sunset and expect to take a short brake at lunchtime only to service the locos.
We expect this event to be popular so recommend booking early. We look forward to seeing many of you in January at the Great Central Railway.
